Re: Game Info - Houston Astros at Cincinnati Reds - August 3, 1989 -

The Cincinnati Reds set a 20th century major-league record for hits in an inning, getting 16 in the first to score 14 runs. Seven Reds had two hits each in the inning.

Red Barrett of the Boston Braves threw only 58 pitches in beating the Cincinnati Reds, 2-0, in a nine-inning game.

Re: Game Info - Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Indians - September 12, 1964 -

This was the first major league game I ever attended. I was 9 years old and my uncle took me and my 2 older brothers to this game, driving 3 hours from our home in Mt Vernon, Ohio. I remember we drove on 2 lane roads to get to Cleveland, so I am guessing that this was before interstate 71 had been constructed. I always have remembered that my Indians won the game 11-10 over the White Sox, and I remember the Indians lineup of Salmon, Davallio, Azcue, Held, and Daddy Wags, and of course Sudden Sam McDowell on the mound, but not much else. It was really great to find this website where I could search for this game based on the score/teams in order to see all the details. This game started my love of the Indians which has continued now for more than 60 years. Thanks to whomever created this website-- it really brings back some wonderful memories!

Re: Game Info - St. Louis Cardinals at Pittsburgh Pirates - July 27, 1968 -

This was my first game that I attended and it remains my favorite memory. My dad took me to this game along with my stepmother and my sister. I watched the simulation replay on your site and I really enjoyed it. I wish there were somewhere to either watch the video or listen to the actual audio of the game. Your site is amazing and I thank you for enabling me to be able to re-live the memory.

Re: Game Info - Houston Astros at Chicago Cubs - August 11, 1966 -

Game 2 of the double header was suspended and completed in Houston 9 days later. I know because I was at Wrigley Field and the 2nd game was called after 7 innings due to curfew. Both teams had games on the West Coast the next day.

Re: Game Info - Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates - July 9, 1967 -

As a 9-year-old, I was especially excited to attended this game because it was “Ball Day.” I knew i was leaving that game with a baseball thanks to the game-day promotion. As the game reached the stretch portion of theb inth inning the clouds opened with brief downpour. The umpires never wavered and the game continued as Jim Maloney, typically a starter, threw his warm up pitches. Willie Stargell took Maloney’s first pitch and hammred it over the rightfield roof, the first of seven times in his career.

By the way, I still have the baseball.

Re: Game Info - Atlanta Braves at Pittsburgh Pirates - May 13, 1967 -

I attended this game. Donn Clendenon won it with a ground rule double that reached the batting cage. The groundscrew parked the cage in left center fielf about 420 feet or so from home plate.

Re: Game Info - Houston Astros at Cincinnati Reds - April 8, 1991 -

Jeff Bagwell's first major league baseball game played as a day game so I am certain very few people could tell you that he lined out to short for an unassisted double play to end the game off of Rob "Rod" Dibble.

Re: Game Info - Cincinnati Reds at San Francisco Giants - October 1, 1965 -

This was the last major league game that Warren Spahn appeared in. His first game was on April 19, 1942. He did not play from 1943 until July, 1946 because of WW2. His overall record was 363-245-2 of which 382 games were complete games. | | In the 382 complete games, his record was 163-27-1 in day games [70-16-1 (road) 93-11 (home)], 159-31-1 [72-16 (road) 87-15-1 (home)] in night games = 322 wins, 58 losses, 2 ties. Since 1920, the closest anyone has come to 322 complete game wins was Lefty Grove, who finished with 239 which is 83 fewer than Spahn. | | Also, appearing in this game was Gaylord Perry who happened to be only the 5th pitcher since 1920 to hurl 300 complete games. Perry reached this plateau in 1982 and eventually finished with 303 that consisted of 227 wins and 76 losses. The other 3 pitchers were Ted Lyons 356 (231 wins, 124 losses and 1 tie), Red Ruffing (227 wins and 108 losses) and Robin Roberts 305 (237 wins and 68 losses).

Re: Philadelphia Phillies (1950) at Philadelphia Phillies (1980) - A Back To Baseball Simulation

For all of your simulations, why is there not a complete box score?!
It would be nice to view the starting pitchers, but also the relief pitchers. How many ABs did each line-up player have?

I am actually looking for a STRAIGHT MLB simulation game that uses different World Series teams over the last 100+ years with the players complete yearly stats.

Your game is the closest, however, it does not have complete box scores in its many simulations, and maybe a stat compiler.

Thanks

The site shows the first 25 simulations out of the 5000 run. If you click on the Result, you will see the box score for that particular simulation.

Re: Daily active rosters

I am a devoted tabletop baseball enthusiast and play historical replays for individual teams or leagues. MY QUESTION: Is there a reference to determine for any game played what the ACTIVE ROSTER was for that game? Thank you, Dr V

Re: Chicago Cubs (2022) at Detroit Tigers (2022) - A Back To Baseball Simulation

maybe you could add a tool that adds up all the hits a player makes

You can see all the hits a player makes throughout his career in the Players section. Is that to what you're referring?

Los Angeles Dodgers versus Montreal Expos - May 3, 1970

Amazing that Jose Pena got the save when the Dodgers have a 15-1 lead in the 9th. One would believe that is not a save situation.

• • •

Quote from Wikipedia on Saves: As initially defined in 1969, a relief pitcher could earn a save if he entered a game with his team in the lead and he held the lead through the end of the game, regardless of the score or for how long he pitched. The definition changed in 1974.
