(continued) Anyway . . . A question for you: are you sure your first game was in 1948? I ask because there was more than one Eddie Mayo Day held in Yankee Stadium between 1944 and 1948. We lived just 12 miles from Yankee Stadium, and the Yankees were always glad to provide the time for visiting player "days", since it pumped up attendance by 300 or 400. Second question: since you remember that your first game was "Eddie Mayo Day", do you also remember whether he received a new car during the pre-game festivities? I have a photo of Dad standing beside the car at home plate, and would be glad to forward to you. Just contact me at edmayo33@gmail.com. Hope some of this helps you remember your first ball game. Cheers -- Eddie Mayo Jr.

Gerry Greaney - Did you ever get the information you needed? I, too, might have been at the game.-- since Eddie Mayo was my father. I would have been 7 years old at the time. I remember it was a rather chilly overcast day, and I do remember being sad/disappointed since my Dad went hitless on "his" day. This would have been not unexpected since the Yankees pitched Eddie Lopat that day -- and Dad remembered later in life (1989) that he might only have gotten one hit in his life off Lopat. The occasion in 1989 was at a dedication of Eddie Mayo Field, a Babe Ruth League facility in his hometown of Clifton, N.J. Lopat attended the dedication, and the two of them recalled a game when Dad doubled off Lopat, and on his way to second (it was a stand-up double) he was laughing and Lopat yelled, "What the heck are you laughing at, Mayo?" Dad responded, "That's the only hit you've ever given me, Lopat." Anyway . . . A question for you: are you sure your first game was in 1948? I ask beca

I don't know when Eddie Mayo was honored with "Eddie Mayo Day". Do you have any other facts about the game you were at? Who hit homers, etc? Then we might be able to help you.

Did they honor Eddie Mayo (Tiger second baseman) honored with a "Eddie Mayo Day" at this game? If not do you know the date of his "Day"? I was at his "Day" and since this was his last year I was wondering if this was the game. I would like to get the box score of my first game. Thank you, Gerry
