Playing a best of the best tourney all of the world series winners decade by decade then, a final tournament of all the winners. So far The champ of the winner's bracket is the powerful 1989 A's who beat the 76 Reds in a 3 game-0 sweep in a best of 5 series, now I am finishing out the loser bracket then once one team remains they will play a best of against Oakland. Right now the 4 teams left are 1948 Cleveland,1956 NY Yankees, 1968 Detroit,2016 Cubs and 1976 Reds.I am managing the 68 Tigers have to play the 56 Yanks, your sim says I should win we will see.Love this only wish you could watch the games.

Only Tigers fans understand the prior year's heartbreak of losing the pennant on the last day, and the way national media and experts looked down on the Tigers in 1968 World Series. After four games, it looked like the experts were right until Willie Horton cut down Lou Brook at home in game 5. Then the comeback began. From the depths of despair and loss to the exhilaration of a totally unexpected win! Only Tigers fans understand!

I have seen 1500 games back to 1952. I saw Nolan Ryan 20 times. But I never saw any pitcher throw as hard as Jim Maloney did for 9 innings in this game in any game ever. It was the most powerful pitching performance I have ever seen.

The day was July 2, 1967. The Cubs were playing the final game of a 12 game homestand of which they had already won 10. Jenkins on the mound. Cubs hadn't finished in the first division since 1946. That day they won 4-1 and for a brief time the Cubs pennant topped the National league. No fans left the stadium until the Cub Pennant was raised above St. Louis. My greatest Cub memory

Morgan hit the big homer in the 8th off of Mike Marshall. Joe was playing injured, and he swung weakly at the previous pitch and stumbled. Then he smashed the next pitch - I'll never forget it. Marshall was shocked - that was his big year and he was pitching almost every other game in relief.

On the final out of game Kaline did not settle under Mickey Mantle's fly ball. Mantle hit a shot to deep right center, fans were going crazy thinking it's gone, when Kaline sprinted back to wall, jumped up on tarped part of wall, leaned over fence and caught ball. At time it was considered top 5 catches of all time! I was there with dad and older brother.

I graduated from 8th grade in Spring of 1961, and Calvin Griffith had moved the Washington Senators to Minnesota for its first season as the Minnesota Twins. In fact, we were so excited when Pedreo Ramos beat the N.Y. Yankees at New York in the season opener. Truly though, as an 11 year old Minneapolis kid, the M&M Boys won my heart and gave me a foundation for the great game of baseball in the summer of 1961, but Harmon Killebrew would soon become my idol for all time. I met the girl I would marry on August 25th 1967. Dean Chance threw a no hitter for the Twins that day which was a good omen. 42 years later and 2 World Series championships for the Minnesota Twins (1987 & 1991), since that 1967 season when the Twins lost there final 2 games to Boston, while needing to win only one to capture the Pennant, left a jaw dropping impression, that continues to this day of that great year in Baseball! Brings back some of those wonder memeries of my youth. This was my 1st ever pro game. Before the game I was standing by the Brewers dugout. H. Aaron came over to me and signed the cover of my program. Then the Batting Practice horn sounded. No more auto. Darrell Porter walked by me coming in from the bullpen. He tossed me a ball that I dropped, he smiled and came over pick me up over the rail so I could go a retrieve the baseball. I was 11 yrs. old. It was so cool!!!

On Tuesday, Sept. 23rd, Jim Deshaies fires a two-hitter and ties a NL record when he strikes out the first eight Dodgers. On Sept. 24th, Nolan Ryan takes a one-hitter into the ninth inning against the Giants. The next afternoon, MIKE SCOTT THROWS A NO-HITTER TO CLINCH THE DIVISION FOR HOUSTON. Tell me of any other consecutive pitching performances to match that!!!!

This was the first MLB game I ever attended, highlighted by Richie "Dick" Allen hitting two inside-the-park home runs. I believe this tied a major league record at that time. The first was legit—but on second one, as I remember, Bobby Darwin came in a step or two before realizing it was a laser that wasn't going to come down.

In July there was a terrible civil disturbance and the city was a scary place all of a sudden. If there was not a riot, there would have been 55,000 at the park. People were afraid to go downtown as it was too soon after a week of looting, fires, and 44 people killed. The weather caused the Tigers to play back to back twin bills and in the second game on Saturday, their bullpen blew a four run lead, including a bonehead play by pitcher Hank Aguirre who had a chance to turn a double play on a comebacker to the mound and instead threw home for a bases loaded force out. The Angels then knocked in the go ahead and winning runs afterwards. It was a game Detroit should have won but the Angels and Bill RIgney really were geared up to spoil the Tigers chances. Marginal left hand hitters like Roger Repoz, Jimmie Hall, and a fair ball player like Don Mincher just loved Tiger Stadium and it's inviting right field porch in the series. With the split on Saturday, the Tigers had to win both games o

I went to this game with my Aunt Lucille and my brother, Doug - the tickets were purchased as a High School Graduation gift from Doug. I got to see my Baseball idol Pete "Charlie Hustle" Rose lead the Phils to a win over the Braves with a 2-run double and a run scored. Larry McWilliams, the starting pitcher from the August 1978 game that ended Rose's 44-game hitting streak, was the starter for the Braves in this game as well. I didn't get Rose's autograph for this game, but I got one from then-Braves manager Joe Torre - many seasons before he added his name to the great Yankee managers of all-time. I remember Rose hitting "fungo-like" back at HOF'er Mike Schmidt on Phils visiting dugout side as I was getting my seat - on the Phillies side. I felt like a kid again, and MLB just isn't the same anymore. Rose, Schmidt, Murphy, The Mad Hungarian, and more - what a memorable game. I remember Carl Yastremski had a big game that day, like Rose. Just one month later, they would both gra

Beltin' Bill Melton smacks his 33rd home run of the season to beat out Reggie Jackson and Norm Cash for the AL Home Run Crown, the first Sox player to win the title. A great moment in Sox history, witnessed by 2,000 fans. Not quite as compelling as Mickey and Roger's race to 61, I guess.

This was the first AL game I ever saw. Incredible game. Winfield goes nuts with two bombs early, one grand slam. I can still see the ball sitting in the lawn behind the left field fence - not there any more. Bo goes deep, then boyhood idol George Brett hits two, the last one off Righetti in the bottome of the 8th to take the lead. Top of ninth was epic, with Clark and Winfield fanning with the bases loaded. Crowd was very loud. Very exciting game and finish.

I was at this game, and we FROZE. It must have been the fastest 8-5 game in MLB history--2 hours and 18 minutes. So much first-ball hitting because the players just wanted to get outta there after all the runs were scored early. A win for the Tribe, though--that was the bottom line for us. Then, back to the campus at Kent State!

This was the last home game for the Brewers of the 1993 season and it turned out to be Robin Yount's last game at County Stadium. Yount scored a run and threw out a runner trying to advance to third base. Paul Molitor received both applause and a few boos with his first plate appearance and ended up with two doubles and a triple helping the Blue Jays come from behind to win the game 9-6. The Blue Jays went on to win the World Series the next month and Molitor got the MVP award. A skunk somehow ended up in the outfield at one point causing a brief delay.

Earl Wilson's home run was to the upper deck in left field. I was at the game and I had perfect line of site on the ball as I was sitting in the lower deck and could look straight down the 3rd base line. It was 12:58am when he hit it. Miller threw him a change up. It was not a fly ball but a line drive that was still rising when it landed.

THE HALLER BROTHERS MAKE HISTORY!

THE ROYALS VS. TIGERS GAME ON 7/14/72 (ROYALS WON, 1-0) WAS THE ONLY GAME IN MLB HISTORY WHERE TWO BROTHERS WERE IN THE GAME, ONE AS AN UMPIRE (BEHIND HOME PLATE) AND THE OTHER AS A PLAYER (CATCHER). BILL HALLER WAS THE UMPIRE AND HIS YOUNGER BROTHER, TOM HALLER WAS THE CATCHER FOR THE TIGERS.

BOTH WERE BORN IN LOCKPORT, ILLINOIS.

I AM TOM'S BROTHER-IN-LAW (HE AND MY SISTER, JOAN) WERE MARRIED UNTIL TOM'S PASSING IN 2004.

I AM DESPERATELY TRYING TO FIND A PHOTO, AUDIO CLIP, PROGRAM OR SOME OTHER MEMORABILIA TO VERIFY THIS RARE MOMENT IN BASEBALL.

THANK YOU AND KIND REGARDS.

I attended this game and sat in a box seat up a little from the Cub dugout. The seat cost $3.50 as I recall. It was a hot day and Maloney was sweating heavy. He was kind of wild. He walked ten batters. However, the Cubs could not touch him for a hit. I was thrilled by it. I was only sixteen at the time.

The 1953 home run is one of the most famous homers of all time - one of Mantle's longest. The only way to really know about this 1956 game would be to see if you can get a Washington Post report of that game. It would probably mention it if it left the park. Thanks for your comments.

My Dad took me to the fame, my first.

We were impressed that Mantle hit his first pitch, as it appeared to us, over the left field bleachers. The only report of Mantle hitting out of the park at Griffith Stadium refer to the Chuck Stobbsgopher in 1953.

Was it an optical illusion?

I had the honor of being at this game, the first the Yankees played after the death of Thurman Munson. I will never forget the heartfelt, tear-soaked 10 minute ovation 51,000+ gave for our captain after the Yanks took the field, leaving the catcher's position open. It was one of the most memorable and saddest moments of my life.

1st game of the most glorious baseball season I ever knew. Vinny named Dodger Stadium, the 'Magic Castle' the boys of summer had become men with big bats, pitching was everywhere and when we were losing it was just a set-up for more heroics. I am here to relive that season and play S-O-M while I watch in memory of my best friend who was there with me for all 112 games and was killed back in LA last year and it was doing research into that crime I found this site so I will watch, remember, and finish my aahhh...research and after the 162 it's off to my hometown and share my insights with a selected few. He would have loved this site more than myself, I think Denzel got it right when in a film called 'man on fire' he stated, 'revenge is a dish best served cold'. Thanks to you all for this work it is truly a gift to those of us who find that Major League Baseball falls somewhere between the greatest pastime and religion, as a Catholic Easter Mass and a season deciding game bring forth uni

I was 12 years old and attended the game with my stepdad sitting in the upperdeck down the 3rd baseline at the old (and nearly empty) Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Dick Donovan pitched a two hit shutout while facing the minimum of 27 batters. Whitey Herzog got two singles being doubled up on one and thrown out attempting to steal on the other. Willie Tasby broke up the scoreless game with a homer over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the 8th. Woody Held singled home an insurance run later in the the same inning. This remains the best pitched game I've ever witnessed personally in my 55+ years of following the Indians. That includes the back to back one hitters I saw Sam McDowell pitch in 1967.

My son + I were there. A thrill. Little did mess up. They got better the next year with Francona + their historic come back from 3-0 in the ALCS.

Ironically it was Boone's (descended from Daniel) last game as a Yankee. He broke his ankle playing basket ball in the off season. This brought on A-Rod.

Tough to choose between Boone + Bucky Dent.

this was up there with 86 as a classic red sox collapse that was entirely against all odds. In the history of baseball, what % of the time does a team up 3 runs in the 8th lose a game, anyone know?

I was at the thirsty scholar, a bar in Somerville with my friend and longtime sox sufferer ben Siddall. Simply crushing. Everyone in America knew to take Pedro out...Little's hubris cost the sox a shot at the Series. BUT it made next year allllll the sweeter!

And, since it was the ESPN Sunday Night Game, I have it on tape, too. The last Browns game I saw there was won on a last-second FG against Cincinnati in '91. What are the chances?
