Unfortunately, I was only 9 years old when Joe D. retired. I saw him play in the 1950 series on TV. I can understand why someone would want to run out of the stands to touch him - he was godlike to Yankee fans. The guy probably talked about it the rest of his life. Perhaps he's even still alive.
