Bottom 1 Southworth hits a ball on the ground into left field, out of the reach of Blades. Southworth reaches second base with a double.

Top 1 Hafey hits a ball on the ground towards short. Frisch fields the ball and throws to get the runner, and throws the ball away. Terry picks up the ball and throws it to Lindstrom who tags the runner out. Hornsby scores. Bottomley scores. Two runs are unearned.
